q. how far in advance do I need to reserve my date?

a. wedding receptions typically book 6-12 months in advance. corporate events usually have a shorter lead time. we recommend reserving your date as soon as it is confirmed. weekends in the warmer months usually fill very quickly so be sure to book early. it is recommended that you book at the very latest two weeks prior to your event.


q. do you require a deposit?

a. we ask for a 10% initial payment for most events. this guarantees your date is locked in on our calendar.


q. how do you like to be paid?

a. we prefer direct deposit into our business bank account, however we will also accept cash, personal and bank cheques and money orders. contact us for our bank details or postage address at  info@totaste.com.au.


q. do we have to meet in person before the event?

a. no. in this day and age with the internet, e-mail and the world wide web, it is not vital that we meet in person prior to your event. we pride ourselves on how prompt we are at responding to your emails and you can always contact us by phone on 1300 55 31 62.


q. in preparing food at my home, what do to taste staff require?

a. the short answer is 'not much!' we provide everything we need including refrigeration requirements so you don't have to clear your fridge out for us. we do ask that your kitchen be clean and your bench tops be as bare as possible. we require hot and cold running water, a sink, an oven and a cook top (electric or gas is fine). if we don't visit your home prior to the event, please advise us of the size of your oven so we are ably to bring appropriate sized trays.


q. what certificates do to taste hold?

a. we are a food business registered as a class two food premises with the City of Moonee Valley under the food act of 1984 and all preparation staff meet at the very least, minimum state and federal  food handling requirements.


q. are you insured?

a. we are fully licensed and insured for product liability.


q. do you provide tastings?

a. yes! our friendly staff are happy to bring samples of our most popular food to your home or office when we go through your menu requirements, this ensures you know exactly what you are purchasing and you can rest assured that the food is of the highest quality.


q. can I make up my own menu or make changes in your menus?

a. absolutely! one of our motto's is 'the only limit is your imagination' and we would love to help you create a special menu just for your party! If you choose one of the menus from our website, you are welcome to make any additions or changes.


q. can you provide for vegetarian and special dietary needs?

a. we sure can! we have wide variety of vegetarian, vegan and other special needs menu items. when we meet with you to plan your event, we will discuss your dietary needs and suggest a menu that will be suitable for you and your guests. please be sure to advise us if we need to consider any food allergies.


q. is there a charge for cutting the cake?

a. definitely not! we include complimentary wedding cake cutting services within all of our packages.


q. can I buy my own alcoholic beverages?

a. we strongly believe that the client should be able to cut significant costs by purchasing the beverages of their choice at the best possible price. we do not charge a corkage fee. nor a cake cutting fee. we’ll be happy to help you with quantities and selections in various price ranges if you wish.


q. can you provide bartenders for my party?

a. yes. our bartenders are fully trained and professional. we carry full liability insurance for both food and alcohol service. generally speaking, you should allow one bartender per 75 guests for beer and wine bars and one bartender per 50 guests for full bar service.


q. how many staff will be at my event?

a. this is a good question. the number of staff needed depends on the menu chosen, how many guests you are expecting and the duration of the event. when we prepare your proposal, estimated hours and costs for staff will be included.


q. how will I know what my total event cost will be?

a. after meeting with one of our professional event planners and discussing your needs for the event, we will prepare an itemised estimate for you. there will be separate line items for food, staff, rental equipment, china, linens - whatever you need us to provide or coordinate for you.


q. do your servers wear uniforms?

a. all of our professional staff are attired in black or white uniforms with long, black or white bistro aprons which have the to taste logo on them. they are crisp, neat, and always ready to lend a helping hand.


q. can you take care of china, glassware and linens for me?

a. we are able to assist with all of this equipment. again, when you meet with one of our event planners, be sure to go through everything. it's a good idea to have a list of things before they arrive. if you require any of these, they will be itemised on your estimate.


q. how about marquees, tables and chairs?

a. a full range of styles and sizes are available from our rental vendors. we will usually we have the rental company person come to your location and measure for marquee needs.


q. do you require a signed terms & conditions?

a. yes. e-mail us at info@totaste.com.au if you would like a copy.


q. will the cost of my function go up on the day?

a. absolutely not, our terms & conditions that is signed by the client, is not only easy to read but well laid out so that there are never any hidden costs that are applied the day of the event! if the event is going over the contracted time of the staff we provide the client with the option to extend the staffs hours.


q. does to taste deliver food?

a. of course we do! you don't have to have to taste staff there to prepare and serve your food. we are able to deliver anything from our cold menu in disposable aluminium trays for your convenience.


q. is there a delivery charge for delivered food?

a. yes. the delivery charge is $50.00 or 10% of the total bill, whichever is greater for melbourne metro. regional or country areas can be negotiated, contact steven@totaste.com.au for further information.


q. how far will to taste go to cater?

a. basically, anything is possible! we are happy to travel anywhere across victoria and have worked anywhere from sunbury to mornington. if you are in regional or country victoria, there may be additional costs such as transport and accommodation, contact steven@totaste.com.au for further information.


q. do I need a wedding consultant?

a. a good wedding consultant will remove much of the stress of the wedding preparation and will be a huge benefit the day of the wedding. they will become the point person for the millions of questions everyone seems to have a the last moment. our experienced staff will provide insight and calm which in turn will allow everyone to enjoy the day and not be thinking of pesky details that need to be done!! from the early days of planning for such a special day, the consultant will help navigate the big picture of budget, location and vendors.


q. what if I'm on a restricted budget?

a. we can customise our menus to suit almost any budget. in the past we have catered events from $5.00 per guest to $200.00 per guest. please contact one of our booking managers with your specific budget concerns and we will come up with ideas for you contact them at info@totaste.com.au.


q. is there a cancellation fee & when does it apply?

a. cancellation fees do apply and are as follows:

if cancelled greater than 60 days prior - 20% of deposit will be non-refundable

if cancelled 60 to 15 days prior - 50% of deposit will be non-refundable

if cancelled14 days prior - 100% of deposit will be non-refundable
